47 days . . .

The Wild Bunch (1969): great suspenseful opening scene. overall it was pretty entertaining i guess. good portrayal of mexicans. for its time, it is extremely violent, filled with language, and more than enough nudity. by today’s standards its pretty tame, but this was ‘69 (that could explain it i guess). there are so many characters that i didn’t feel a connection with anyone. and the stuff you could do with horses back then. geez. seems to have a number of big memorable scenes in film history. was a little hard to follow because i don’t know a lot about US/mexican relations during the setting of the movie. it was good, but i’ll get my kicks from butch cassidy. worth seeing i think.

Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942): how do they make a black and white film into color? not sure either. took a while to see the point of the movie. cagney is certainly no gene kelly. what’s weird is, how they determined what color certain things should be. there is no way of knowing (i think) exactly what colors the original costumes and props and sets and everything else on film were. very unlike me, but i really, really enjoyed the big yankee doodle musical number they did. however, the endless montages of different musicals got so very old. the movie is just more over the top patriot fluff. don’t see.

had an interesting experience on sunday at my school with this patriotic service thing they had for the 4th. my future boss was the keynote speaker and man is he an awesome guy. totally full of integrity and more knowledge than me. (that was a joke) got to shake his hand and have a very brief convo at the end. and the more i read about where he stands on positions, the more that i love the guy. this is how a republican should act and most should take note. between him and hatch, i think i got the better of the two. the service thing was pretty awesome. by far the most patriotic and “go USA!” thing i’ve ever attended.

does anyone know the history of singapore? you never hear much about them.

i’ve always been the guy going to law school, and “ooo look at him, he is going to go to law school.” but i’m not the “oh look at him, he goes to law school.” there is a ton riding on me. i could be the guy who didn’t get into law school. how sad would that be? i need suggestions on what i should do after i graduate and if i don’t get into law school. i know what ryan wants if i don’t go, which might actually be fun. maybe i could get some job working for the senator after the internship. hollywood video would be kinda cool too. i’m hoping kim will just let me sit and play games and watch movies. she’d probably rather me go into biz with ryan. actually, that might be a toss up for her.

Hey,
Saw this in the City Weekly about your future boss:

This week's events--Louis Gossett Jr. leading 50,000 and the Hope of America Choir in a Pledge of Allegiance beamed from LaVell Edwards Stadium to troops abroad by special request of the Pentagon--can make it hard to remember what a real patriot looks like. Sen. Bob Bennett came close, refusing to budge his stand against a constitutional flag burning amendment despite being called out by amendment sponsor Sen. Orrin Hatch who calculates Bennett is now the single vote blocking passage. Two days before Independence Day, Bennett took to the Senate floor to declare the Constitution "is no place for feel-good amendments that do nothing but restrict freedoms."

Sounds like your future boss is pretty smart and cool.
